
Travel with the Ultra app
With our app Ultra - Umeås lokaltrafik, it's even easier to travel by bus with Umeå's public transport.
If you have not already downloaded our app "Ultra - Umeås lokaltrafik", do so now. Here you can quickly and easily search for travel, stop times, get traffic information and buy all our different tickets.
Download the app via the App Store or Google Play.
Here's what you can do in the app:
Buy ticket
Here's how:
- Go to "Buy".
- Select "Single" or "Discount/Period".
- Click on "Ultra – discount" if you want to switch to Flex or period ticket instead and select the correct ticket type from the list. If you want to buy discount trips, you can choose between 6 and 10.
- Click on "1 adult" if you want to change age category or buy several single tickets for the same trip.
- Enter the desired payment method, you can pay with Swish, debit card or Klarna.
- Once you have selected the product you wish to buy, click on "Buy".
- Choose between activating the ticket immediately or activating the ticket manually at a later time. Activate your ticket when you are ready to use it! Otherwise, it is not valid. Remember that your days for the season ticket start as soon as you activate it. So wait to activate it until just before you get on the bus.
- Finally, to complete the purchase, drag the wallet icon over the text "Swipe for purchase".
Searching and buying trips
Here's how:
- Go to "Search & Buy" and specify which route you want to travel. You can either type in a stop, address, use your current location or move the cursor over the map to the desired stop.
- Choose your trip – the ticket is not linked to a specific departure or route, but is valid for the entire Ultra traffic.
- Then click on "Select ticket type and age". Please enter the correct age category and number of tickets.
- Do you want a ticket other than a single ticket? Click on single ticket and then choose between discount, period or the entire county. When choosing a discount ticket – choose how many trips you want to buy, 6 or 10.
- Enter the desired payment method, you can pay with Swish, debit card or Klarna.
- Once you have selected the product you wish to buy, click on "Buy".
- Choose between activating the ticket immediately or activating the ticket manually at a later time. Activate your ticket when you are ready to use it!
- Finally, to complete the purchase, drag the wallet icon over the text "Swipe for purchase".
Give away or lend a ticket to someone else
Only tickets that are not activated can be given away. If you have given the ticket away to someone else, you have transferred the ticket and cannot change your mind. In other words, you will not get a ticket that you have given away back. Activated period tickets can be lent out and are then lent out until 04:00 the following day. The ticket will automatically return to the ticket owner at 04:00.
The recipient of the ticket must have the app Ultra - Umeå's public transport installed in their phone and an account in the app.
Here's how:
- Select "Tickets".
- Tap the icon in the top right corner.
- Select "Give away ticket" or "Lend ticket".
- Specify which ticket is to be given away/lent out.
- Enter the recipient's email address, and then confirm.
The ticket is then available to the recipient after 10 minutes.
Create an account in the app
To secure your tickets and to be able to use all the features. You can search for a trip and buy a ticket without having an account.
Create an account, here's how:
- Go to "More" and then "My Profile".
- Click the Create a Profile button.
- Fill in your email and click next.
- You will receive an email to your email, open the email, click on the link and enter a password.
- Go back to the app, now you are logged in.
Get a receipt for the ticket by email
Here's how:
- Click on "Tickets".
- Click on the autumn button in the top right corner.
- Select "Send receipt to email".
- Drag the ticket(s) you wish to send a receipt for to the right side of the screen.
- At the bottom, click on "Send X receipts to my email".
- Enter your email.
- Click on "Send receipt for each purchase" if you want a receipt to be sent automatically with each new purchase.
- Finally, click "Send Now".
Please check that the receipt has not ended up in the spam folder.
Real-time information (see the estimated arrival and departure time of the bus)
Here's how:
- Go to "Search & Buy" and specify which route you want to see information about.
You can either type in a stop, address, use your current location or move the cursor over the map to the desired stop. - Select your trip.
- Here you can see both the timetable time and whether the bus should be before or after the expected departure or arrival time.
See where the bus is on the map
You can see specific buses in the following ways:
- Go to "Search & Buy" and specify which route you want to see information about.
You can either type in a stop, address, use your current location, select a stop on the map, or move your cursor over the map to the desired location. - Select your trip. Please note that this only works once the tour has started, in real time.
- Scroll down to the map.
- If you want to see the map in full frame or see the line's stops, you can click on the bus in question. This will open a new window with a map and a list of stops. To get the map in full frame, click on the small arrow in the lower right corner of the map.
You can see all departures in the near future from a specific stop in the following way:
- Go to "Departures" and specify which stop you want to see information about.
You can either enter a stop, select a stop on the map, or select from your search history or saved favorites. - You can click on a bus on the map or on a departure in the list to see more details about that specific tour.
- Please note that the bus will only appear on the map once the tour has started.
Choose to receive a reminder when your bus departs
Here's how:
- Go to "Search & Buy" and do a travel search between which stops you want to travel.
- Select departure.
- Click on "Reminder".
- Tick "reminder".
- Choose the day you want the reminder and how far in advance you want it.
Find the nearest stop
Here's how:
- Go to "Search & Buy".
- When you click on "I want to travel from", select "Use my current location".
- Allow the app to use location data.
- Then your nearest stops are listed based on your current location.
Dark and light theme
You can choose whether you want a light or dark theme in the app.
To change the theme, follow these steps:
- Go to "More"
- Go to "Settings"
- Click on "Theme"
- Then select whether you want it to be light, dark, or follow the setting on your phone.
This will come a little later
- Choose to receive a notification about when to get off the bus.
- Save your favorite trip and get information about any disturbances.

You choose a single ticket for the journey you intend to make and choose how many tickets you want to buy for each age category. If you choose at least two tickets, regardless of age categor, you automatically get 20% discount on your purchase. The discount is valid for regional buses within Västerbotten and local buses in Umeå (Ultra).
No, you can search journeys and buy ticket even without an account. However, we recommend that you create an account in order to be able to move your tickets to a different mobile phone if it breaks. You also get access to other features, such as give away tickets and lend out tickets.
Punch tickets: 180 days activation time and 12 months validity
Period tickets: 180 days activation time and valid for the amount of days you bought
Flex 10/30 (Ultra): 180 days activation time and 30 days validity
Single ticket for regional buses: 180 days activation time and valid for 1 journey
Single ticket for Umeå's local buses: 180 days activation time and valid for 1 hour (including transfer)
You can cancel your purchase by opening your ticket and choosing "cancel purchase" on the top banner. The purchase will be reimbursed to the same payment method that was used.
Activated tickets cannot be cancelled through the app.
You can get a receipt by pressing the "share" button in the upper right corner in "My tickets" tab. Then you choose which tickets you want to get receipt for and provide your e-mail. You can also choose to get your receipts automatically for each purchase.
No, the ticket is not connected to a specific departure. It can be used on any departure on the same route, as long as it's still valid.
If you give away a ticket, you cannot undo it. The ticket has then been transferred to someone else and will not be returned to you. You can only give away tickets that have not been activated.
If you lend your ticket to someone else, it will be returned to you at 4am the following day. The person you lend your ticket to can use it as much as they want. During the time the ticket is lent out you cannot use it. You can only lend out activated period ticket (excluding 24&72h tickets for Ultra).
Remember that you always need to be able to show a valid ticket throughout the journey. If you've lent out a ticket, it is not valid in your app until it's returned to you.
We cannot present timetables in pdf in the app due to accessibility requirements. If you need a timetable, you can find them on you website tabussen.nu
However, we recommend that you use the journey planner instead of timetables. You can see departures from your bus stop in the "Stops" tab or search for a specific journey in the "Plan & buy" tab. Apart from departure and arrival times, you can also see bus positions, estimated time and possible disturbance information related to your journey.
The same account is valid for both apps but you cannot be logged in with the same account in more than one app at the same time. Choose the app that best suits your needs as a traveller:
- Do you travel with regional buses only? Use the Tabussen.nu app
- Do you travel only with local buses in Umeå (Ultra)? Use the Ultra - Umeås lokaltrafik app
- Do you travel with both regional and local buses? Use the Tabussen.nu app
You can always change your choice by logging in to the other app - you will then be automatically logged out from the previous one.
If you want to use both apps, you can:
- Create two accounts for each app separately (you will need two different e-mails) or
- Use one of the apps without an account, you still have access to most of the features
You can also use the same account to log in to My Pages.
